The Boston Outline Cap, aka “Elmers Tips” is a classic cap that fits older Rustoleum female valves. This cap was one of the best-kept secrets from the old days when Rustoleum and its children brands like Painter’s Touch and American Accent had a female valve system. It is still available today and works great with an adapter cap.
The Boston Outline Cap was highly revered by the past generations of writers for its ability to take the sputter away from Rustoleum spray paint. The spray pattern was perfect for outlines, great for flare tags, and more consistent than stock caps. These caps seemed to conserve paint while still producing solid lines.
Although modern male valve Rustoleum spray paint no longer has a stutter, they still have a sensitive valve with high-pressure output. Pair the Boston Outline Cap with your favorite adapter and gain more control over your spray.
